His
father is the one and only
champion Podosis, 1'16"a
- 1'17"m, four-time winner
of Group l races under the saddle (Prix de Cornulier,
du Président de la République, des Centaures, de Vincennes)
and one of the most dazzling members of the expanding
male line of Florestan (Star's Pride).
One
of the most successful stallions in 1998 who was consistently
placed near first place, he produced a host of winners
including Bonheur de Tillard 1’11", Gai
Brillant 1’14", etc.
His
mother, Ballerine de Retz, born of the ambivalent
Levorino 1’17" (2nd at Prix de Vincennes
and Prix de l'Etoile), is the daughter of Nice Gold
1'16", a high class mare who also foaled Concerto
de Retz 1’16" (ten wins and FF1,130,150).
'
His
great-great granddam, Harmony Gold, is half-sister
to many winners, including Oustau 1’16".
His 5th dam, the exceptional Darling RL 1’25"
(20 wins), has become particularly famous after she
retired to stud, producing the champion Oscar RL
1'16", winner of Critérium Continental and Prix
de Paris, twice 2nd at Prix d'Amérique, Pin Up RL
1'20", a semi-classic who sired a series of
excellent performers including the semi-classic Baloise
1’21 m, Fokelia 1'20"m. and the millionnaire
Rhétorique 1’15" and Aristote 1’14"
stallion, etc.
The
pedigree of First de Retz combines three main
blood lines: Florestan, Fandango and Kerjacques.
The blood of chef de race Hernani III is widely
represented with the inbreeding to Atus II and
Quinio.
Numerous
cross-breeding possibilities are available, mainly with
the daughters of Mon Tourbillon (to slightly
redirect the cross-breeding of Gai Brillant).
A return to Kerjacques and Paléo is also
welcomed for descendants of female lines. Cross-breeding
with female descendants of Speedy Crown (USA)
or Sharif di Lesolo (ITY) can be attempted to
develop precocity and speed. The speed mares should
be a match for him (remember that Flore de Retz,
close relative of First de Retz, produced Kindia
de Retz, considered very promising by his mentor
Philippe Allaire).
